Understanding the importance of play and the impact that it has on a child’s development can never be underestimated.
Play has an impact on the cognitive, physical, social and emotional development of children and young people and should be an integral part of every child’s life.

Although play is vital, sadly, there are many children who fail to get adequate opportunities to play, or who have limitations placed upon them. There are a multitude of complex reasons for this.

This course looks at the subject of play, the positive impact that it has on children, the areas of development that it supports, the problems that can arise when children are not enabled to play and the reasons why play opportunities may be limited or non-existent.

The course also looks at the therapeutic benefits of play. It has been recognised that play can have a vital role in supporting children who might have an array of emotional or developmental needs.

This course is aimed at any front-line professionals who work in child related roles or who may benefit from an understanding of the role that play has in a child’s development. It is also suitable for parents who might wish to have a deeper knowledge or understanding of the subject and how best to support their child.
