ADHD is an umbrella term which includes Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity (ADHD) and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) without hyperactivity.

ADHD is a term which in recent years has become very prevalent among those who work with children and young people.

It is also a condition which many parents and extended family members will be learning about and trying to understand through either having concerns about a child or by receiving a diagnosis that their child has ADHD or ADD.

This course is an over arching explanation of what ADHD is and it gives learners who may work with or parent children and young people with the condition and over view and understanding of the issues that they may face, how to support someone with the condition and how to provide an environment that helps to nurture and promote positivity.

This course is aimed at parents, supervisors, senior staff or those who have an interest in this subject.

By the end of the course learners will understand:

  • What ADHD and ADD are
  • Common signs and symptoms to look for
  • The path to gaining a diagnosis
  • ADHD and related conditions
  • Behaviour management strategies
  • Treatment, medications and medical research
  • Future outcomes and outlooks
