It is estimated that Autism affects over 23 million people around the world and although it is so relatively common and globally spread, there is still much that is unknown or yet to be understood about the Autistic mind and the Spectrum of Autism.

Professionals who work in public sector roles or roles where close human interaction is a pre-requisite of the role will often come into contact with people who may have some Autistic traits or who may be fully diagnosed with ASD.

Autism can be challenging, and it is always helpful for professionals to have a good basic knowledge of the subject in order to inform and help their skills and working methods.

This course is an introduction to Autism for those who have limited understanding or knowledge. It will give an outline of what Autism is, what the Autistic Spectrum is, how Autism is diagnosed, the challenges faced by families and the outcomes for those who have Autism.

This course is suitable for anyone working in a role where they might work closely with vulnerable client groups, for anyone new to this type of role and wants to develop their knowledge and confidence and for anyone who has an interest in the subject and would like to further their knowledge.
